Self-Discovery is Not Scary

Hello Friend,

HAPPY SUNDAY — Let’s Get Curious!

Say it with me — Self-Discovery is NOT Scary.

The path to self-discovery is covered with roses and thorns.

The roses remind us that beauty is found through struggle — while the thorns limit our exploratory enthusiasm…

…if we let them.

Sometimes the journey reaches a fork in the road — we must decide which way to go.

Are we going to continue making the same mistakes or are we going to travel into the unknown to get to the root cause?

Maybe we aren’t ready — or maybe we’re scared of what we might uncover.

Which option is scarier?

Living a life in pursuit of challenge and self-discovery OR a lifetime full of self-sabotage?

The self-sabotage route is filled with those thorns — our minds do not want to go down this path.

Our minds will detest any situation or thoughts that challenge its comfort.

Even when we know what to do, our mind will trick us into our self-sabotage patterns.

Yet — we must see the game from an enlightened perspective and accept the discomfort of change.

As we walk past the thorns, we are surprised with the roses.

Once we see the roses, we begin to understand ourselves a bit better.

“Oh — this is how I have been living. I should change that if I want to become better.”

ACTION STEP:

Take this personality test — answer the questions with honesty and clarity.

I am in shock at how accurate this was!

This will give you a great baseline of self-discovery.

Once you do some reflection and thinking — you can choose your next challenges.

(This is not an end all be all — it’s a great place to start the process of self-discovery.)

Some random closing thoughts:

  • There are about 60 days left in 2023. Let’s focus in on our priorities and goals during the holiday season.

  • Be “ALL IN” not “ALL OBSESSED” — while we improve on our life, we must make sure we are living that very life.

  • Do not let the weather dictate your attitude. Rainy cold days are made for running our best plays.

  • Reading non-fiction is awesome — reading a fiction book has been a nice addition to my reading flow. Currently making my way through “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime” — by Mark Haddon. Such great storytelling — it is hard to put down.
