In Search For An Answer…

The man is sad, very very sad.

As most people, the man does not prefer sadness. He thinks sadness is the worst feeling — and strives to avoid sadness at all costs.

But today, the man is sad, very very sad.

He walks into a bar and asks the bartender “How can I get rid of my sadness?” The bartender shrugs and offers a shot of tequila on the house.

The man gently declines — “that’s not the answer” he thinks to himself.

As the man walks out of the bar — he is still sad, very very sad. “I bet the doctor can help me out.”

“How can I get rid of my sadness?” the man asks the doctor. The doctor scribbles on his pad, and offers the man a prescription for a new miracle drug.

The man gently declines — “that’s not the answer” the man thinks to himself.

As the man walks out the doctor’s office — he is still sad, very very sad. “I know my smart friend can help me, he always has the answers!”

“How can I get rid of my sadness?” the man asks his smart friend. His friend writes down 15 books to read and 10 podcasts to listen to.

The man declines — “that’s not the answer” he thinks to himself.

As the man walks outside, he is still sad, very very sad.

“At this point, I might as well ask my dog.”

“How can I get rid of my sadness?” the man asks his dog.

The dog is perplexed, wondering what the human is saying.

“How can I get rid of my sadness?! How can I get rid of my sadness?!” the man screams

There is nowhere to escape, the man has spent his entire day ruminating on his sadness.

“Maybe I can sleep the sadness away.” the man thinks. Wait, before sleeping, the man must take the dog outside.

“C’mon — walkie walkie” he sighs — as the dog comes around the corner, the man asks the dog one more time.

“How can I get rid of my sadness?”

The dog is yet again befuddled — as if she does not understand the question.

As the man is walking the dog, he takes note of the high winds and compares the weather to earlier in the day when it was very calm. He notices the trees allowing leaves to go with the wind. The wind is blowing cold air in multiple directions, the man wants to complain about it.

He looks down at his dog — she is enjoying the wind. She is enjoying the moment. The dog is in the present.

“The wind really does just come and go. Nobody thinks about it — it just comes and goes.”

The man has a sudden realization — “I know how I can get rid of sadness.” he says under his breath as a grin appears across his face.

“Let it go.”

Look for answers in nature.

Ask the trees some questions.

Observe the wind.

Feel the energy. “TOUCH GRASS!”

Less phone time, more nature time.
