The Pathway to Purpose
“The Truth cannot be brought down; rather, the individual must make the effort to ascend to it.”
Each individual must figure out their unique route to the Truth.
The route is treacherous — filled with danger and fear.
Very few choose to venture down the roads that hold the Truth.
Many are discouraged from walking due to outside judgments, internal self-doubt, and the fear of change.
Nowadays, it is harder to get to the Truth on any subject — it is tough finding out what really matters.
This is due to the thousands of voices and figures shouting their perspectives — we end up getting confused as we try to piece together the puzzle of our purpose.
Teachers from multiple fields try to teach us the way — all of these teachers will fail in piecing together our puzzle for one reason.
Our puzzle is up to us to piece together.
No amount of books or advice can set you on the best path, you have to take full responsibility for your life situation and Decipher the Details of reality, self, and the craft you choose to pursue.
I recently finished Mastery by Robert Greene — which I wish I had read about 3-4 years ago. It would have saved me from plenty of confusion and lamenting the reality of growing into my crafts.
This book is so important to my life — I cannot believe how valuable it was and will be as I continue to master various fields and crafts.
Dr. Andrew Huberman says that he recommended Mastery because it taught Huberman various lessons on mentorship, relationships, and identifying the uniqueness within each of us.
“Mastery transformed my entire life,” Huberman tells Robert Greene

When it comes to focusing on our purpose, it is overwhelming to consider all of the possibilities available.
It is hard to narrow down to find our Life’s Task — which is something that we create through our unique passion and perspective.
Everyone has a different journey and timespan to discovering their purpose — as Robert Greene mentions he did not solidify his until he was 39 years old.
It will take plenty of deciphering, but the earlier we start — the more we can build and experiment to enhance our meaning and fulfillment from this one chance at life.

TIME TO GO WITHIN!
Look for the primal inclination within you — what are the things that excited you as a child?
What came easy? What is something that you cannot shut up about? What is the interest or field that sparks your brain into a frenzy? What are the subjects that you are emotionally attached to?
Next, Examine your Career Path.
Of course, making a living is important. I’m not saying you need to quit your job and chase down your passion, I am saying that you need to bring your passion along with you.
Working in a career that doesn’t allow you to bring your passion to the table is a recipe for a lifetime of misery.
Since we spend a lot of time doing our work, we should be aware that the level of fulfillment you attain from life will be impacted by your attitude towards the work you do.
The last step to purpose is to acknowledge that the joy is in the journey. As we determine our purpose, it will become obvious when we reach a state of childlike joy for our daily actions and habits.
It won’t always be easy and smooth, but we will recognize the sense of wonder and excitement that comes with locking down our purpose.
A Living Breathing Example
Over the last few months, I have locked down my purpose and the crafts I want to master. Finding these pathways was not easy, but once I went inward and decided to listen to what truly made me joyful, I knew I had stumbled upon my purpose.
I have always loved sports & movement — which led me down the path of health and wellness, performance training, and coaching.
I have always loved telling & listening to stories — which has led me down the path of reading, writing, and creating.
I have always loved communicating & observing people — which has led me down the path of understanding human nature, philosophy, and the journey of life.
Lucky me — I get to create within these domains, the power of the internet has opened so many doors in these various crafts.
The convergence between my purpose and my crafts is a perfect match.
Now — all I need to do is continue on the path — making sure I bring self-control, discipline, and emotional stability to the purpose party.
I asked myself a variety of questions, here are the 5 most important ones that helped me decipher my direction:
What are my favorite things to learn about?
What would I do if I had to create something legendary in 1 hour?
What do I want to look back on when I am entering the final stages of life?
What are my interests — what gets my mind, body, and soul fired up? Who are my favorite teachers? (authors, creators, etc.)
What is True for Me — what am I good at, what do I suck at? What comes easy, what are my natural gifts, and what brings me the most amount of joy?
I cannot answer these questions for you — this is something you must sit down and discover. It is a process of iteration, so do not stress if you can’t crack the code within 10 minutes.
Take these questions down, as well as any others you find helpful — sit with them over the next couple of weeks.
Be curious and open-minded as you explore the pieces to your purpose.
Allow for flow — let the ease of excitement guide you to the answers.
You might spend a lot of time exploring different fields, feelings, and ideas before you find a path that feels right.
But when you finally do find your way — your courage can light up those around you.
Human Beings are purpose machines — the route to fulfillment is paved with purpose.
Let’s get to driving — allowing for the possibility of detours along the way.
WHO KNOWS!
We might end up in a place we never thought was possible!
Hedonistic Treadmill
Hedonism is defined as the pursuit of pleasure, a chase of continuous self-indulgence.
In the world we live in, hedonistic behaviors are seen as normal and commonplace.
Matter of fact, many of the advancements in technology are made to increase our levels of pleasure.
What happens is that we need this constant pleasure to stay in equilibrium.
Enter — the Hedonistic Treadmill.
This treadmill is designed to keep us attached to the pursuit of pleasure by any means, even if it means sacrificing the things we care about.
Many humans are not aware of this concept — their lives are run by this pursuit until their lives are lost at the cost of upholding the painful pace of pleasure.
After so many instant gratification pleasures, the man can only get off the treadmill by dying or by getting off.
Getting off the treadmill is going to be painful — the man has built up habits and routines that are wrapped in the pleasurable wonders of modern life.
The initial adjustment period will be tough — even downright miserable.
After a couple of days, the man feels better and is heading back to a natural, temperate lifestyle.
This treadmill is hurting so many humans — we must get off of it ourselves and then hope to inspire others to hop off.
